The alpine leg will be held at Big White Ski Resort, which is located approximately 65km East of Kelowna off of Hwy 33. Look for the turn off approx 40km from Kelowna.
Once you arrive on the mountain, you will see the first lift, the Gem Lake Express, approximately 50km from Kelowna. Keep driving uphill past this lift for approximately 10 minutes and look for the sign on the right side of the road leading to Black Forest.
At the end of the parking lot is the Black Forest warming hut. At the hut is registration.
Once registered, proceed to the Black Forest Express chair lift and load the lift.
Take the lift to the top, at which you will be escorted to the start of the alpine uphill leg. The uphill portion will start at Sundance.
Competitors will walk/run up Sundance to Rhonda Lake road. They will take a right at Rhonda Lake road and proceed to Cougars Alley. At Cougars alley you will take a 90 degree left hand turn and follow the marked course to the top of the Black Forest Express.
Once there, competitors will put their skis on and proceed down Millie’s Mile, also a marked route. Skiers will have to ski through racing gates. Either a left or right turn will be initiated at the first gate. This will be determined the day of the event. Competitors will follow the marked route down Millie’s Mile the bottom of the Black Forest Express. From here there is a sharp right turn with an 8m uphill to Gondola Way. Follow Gondola Way into Happy Valley where the transition to the Nordic leg will take place.
The transition zone will be located beneath the gondola lift.
